Vision and Christian values

Our entire school community have had the opportunity to reflect on what our school offers to all of the children that attend here. Together, we have created our own unique vision.

At Wilberfoss School, we will all strive to:

• Believe in ourselves, dare to try new things and persevere in a bid to reach our full potential

 ‘Let us run with perseverance the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.’ Hebrews 12.1-2

• Live well together by valuing friendship and respecting ourselves and one another

 ‘Encourage one another and build each other up’ 1 Thessalonians 5.11

• Grow good people who can make a difference in school, the wider community and the world

 ‘Serve one another in love.’ Galatians 5.13

• Show thankfulness for what we have and show generosity of heart and mind

 ‘Always give thanks for everything to God the Father’ Ephesians 5.20

• Provide a curriculum that ensures that all children have the opportunity to achieve and shine

 ‘Let your light shine so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven’ Matthew 5:16

Whilst we teach children about all Christian values, we as a  school have decided to focus on 3 core ones: 

Perseverance

‘Let us run with perseverance the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.’

Jesus frequently encouraged his disciples to "endure patiently" difficulties and obstacles encountered and to persevere in the face of adversity. We aim to build resistance in all of our children and encourage them to believe in themselves when the going gets tough.

Friendship

‘Encourage one another and build each other up’

Christians believe they can call God their friend because of the relationship made possible through Jesus. We aim to welcome all faiths, beliefs and life-choices, showing compassion and respect so that everyone has the opportunity to live well together in our modern Britain.

Thankfulness

‘Always give thanks for everything to God the Father’

Christians believe that God loves and cares for them in many ways in all aspects of their life. They know that their response to this provision should be one of thankfulness and praise. As a school we aim to not only do this but also be generous in any way that we can to help others less fortunate.
